Decarbonising transport: maritime, aviation and road

Download iconDownload

QIC’s series on decarbonising transport explores the unique decarbonisation challenges of the transport sector, the current and emerging solutions and possibly pathways, and important considerations for investors. The transport sector accounts for about 20% of global CO2 emissions, and progress to decarbonise the sector is varied. While tackling considerably higher emissions, road transport has the advantage of a maturing solution in EVs and batteries to address a significant portion of its anticipated emissions reduction. For maritime and aviation, alternative fuels will be critical to achieving the long-term decarbonisation goals. In each sector, hydrogen is anticipated to play some role over the long term. The papers also explore the key enablers to accelerate investment, including government regulations, policy, taxes and incentives, and strong industry collaboration.
